LWA YOUNG WINDSURFER OF THE YEAR:

Every year, thanks to the generosity of one of our windsurfing friends (who prefers to remain anonymous) the LWA Committee chooses one of the young sailors who have participated in the LWA  Events to be awarded a £100 cheque in recognition of their windsurfing achievements, with the intention of encouraging them to further success. Past winners have included such names as Bryony Shaw, the UK Ladies Windsurfing representative at the Beijing Olympics, Keith Atkinson, winner of many Formula titles both National and International, and Dan Simpson, now blazing a trail across the World Formula Youth rankings. So there is a great deal to live up to.
In 2006 the award was not made and so it was carried over to 2007, which was fortunate as there were two outstanding candidates, Alex Trickle and Charlie Wilson, so they both became LWA Young Windsurfers of the Year for 2007 and they appear on the LWA Racing Calendar poster for 2008. Our congratulations to both of them and we wish them a successful and enjoyable year’s windsurfing in 2008.
