Raceboard Training:
Following on from our successful Raceboard Training Day at Farmoor last July, Rob Kent kindly agreed to coach on another session which was held at Farmoor Reservoir on Sat 12 Feb.
The weather was just fantastic and could not have been better if we had ordered it specially, it was quite mild and the sun came out and there was plant of wind but not too much and in the afternoon we were in the back straps from time to time.
Rob Kent and John White took on the male raceboarders whilst Annette Kent looked after the ladies and after a check on how sails were rigged some 20 raceboards took to the water and practised beating upwind and reaching downwind with our trainers keeping a watchful eye out for aspects of individual performance which could be improved. After one of Farmoor’s more than ample lunches the afternoon was spent putting into practice what we had learned in a series of four short races, most of them held in a spanking ten knots or more. Thanks go to our trainers and to Oxford Sailing Club for a most enjoyable introduction to the 2011 windsurfing racing season. Thanks also to John Liddy for his excellent photos.
