The LWA Summer Series Event 6 at Oxford took place on day 1 of the UKWA Inland Series Event 4. 22 of the 34 Raceboards were LWA members, plus 5 of the youngsters. Saturday produced lighter winds than Sunday and the results at the end of the day were quite naturally different from those at the end of the two day event.
Paul Leone went very well indeed, topping the bill with three 1sts and a 2nd, Rob Kent just kept his nose in front of Ady Rippingston by a single point to take second overall. Nick Kidd was first Unlimited in 5th, Annette Kent was first lady. Despite his spectacular win in Race 2 when the three guys in front of him decided to sail another sausage instead of the reach across to Mark 2, where the Finish boat awaited them, flying a shortened course flag, Bill carded three DNFs which effectively blew his LWA results for the day, as well as making a serious dent in his two-day score.
In the youngsters on the main course Andrew Robinson sailed his 7.8 whilst Tom Squires and Conor Wells opted for their RS:Xs. On the small course Rebecca and Emily Kent sailed their 3.5 and 4.5, completing 9 races in all, only the first four of which count towards the LWA event results.
Our apologies for the late production of these results which had to await the production of the two-day results which were complicated by the problem of sailors, especially the youngsters, swapping fleets. The LWA prizes for this event will be awarded at our final Summer Series event at King George on Sat 17 October.
