Round 4 - UKWA Inland Series 2010

Oxford Sailing Club, Farmoor - Sat 4 & Sun 5 Sep
incorporating on the Saturday the LWA Summer Series Event 6.

The London Windsurfing Association and Oxford Sailing Club look forward to welcoming you to the next event in the UKWA Inland Series which is due to be held at Farmoor Reservoir on Sat 4 and Sun 5 Sep 2010. We have enjoyed some excellent events here at Oxford Sailing Club which is a very friendly club with lots of active windsurfing members who race with considerable success in the regional and national series.    The Saturday races will count as part of the LWA Summer Series.

BARBECUE ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Oxford SC Caterers have agreed to put on one of their superb barbecues on Saturday evening at just £5.00 per person - anyone who was at the Racing Training in July will tell you what fantastic value their barbecues are! This is subject to a minimum of 30 people having paid up by the cut-off time of 10:30am on Saturday morning. Whilst we fully expect to achieve this number, just in case this does not happen may we suggest that as a fall-back situation that if you do intend to book for the barbecue you also bring some food in reserve for an evening meal in the event tha the minimum number is not reached.

IMPORTANT NOTE: THERE IS NOW A THAMES WATER IMPOSED £2 PER DAY PARKING FEE PER CAR FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS LEAVING VEHICLES IN THE CAR PARK. MAKE SURE YOU BRING CHANGE FOR THE MACHINE FOR BOTH DAYS. NOTE ALSO THAT DOGS ARE ONLY ALLOWED IN CARS IN THE CAR PARK (NOT A GOOD IDEA ANYWAY) AND NOT ON THESIDE OF THE RESERVOIR.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU SIGN ON AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO GIVE THE STAFF TIME TO PREPARE THE TALLY LIST OF ALL PARTICIPANTS WHICH MUST BE FINALISED BEFORE RACING CAN BEGIN.

Briefing on the Saturday morning is at 09.45am and the first warning signal is scheduled for 10.25am. Sunday start times will be announced on the Saturday evening but expect an early start!

There will be no pre-entry.  Please enter on the day.

Junior Course: Two days -  £15.00

LWA members who wish to sail the Saturday only, for which the first 4 races will count towards the LWA Summer Series, may do so at the usual LWA rate of £10.00, however we would like to encourage all our LWA sailors to compete on both days and support this National Event.

RACE ORGANISATION:
There will be two courses, the Main Course for the adult racing and Course Two for the Juniors.

It is anticipated - weather permitting - that there will be two races before lunch on the Saturday, followed by two or possibly more in the afternoon.

Standard UKWA Inland Series Sailing Instructions will be used. Any amendments will be posted on the Official Notice Board.

OVERNIGHT CAMPING:
Motorhomes, caravans and tents can be accommodated in a field near the reservoir for the Friday and Saturday nights - (200 yards past the reservoir entrance - it will be signposted,
click here for map - ) - at a charge of £5.00 per unit for one night, £8.00 for two nights. Note that there is NO WATER on site so you will need to bring your own. You will be able to get water from the Sailing Club on the Saturday however. There are some fishermen’s toilets available within a few minutes’ walking distance.

It is NOT practicable to rig up on the camping site even though it is close to the reservoir. You may of course drive your kit up to the water level in the Sailing Club and drop it off, but vehicles must all be taken back down to the lower car park immediately after unloading.

Please note that there is a Thames Water Regulation that no overnight camping is permitted in their carpark and don’t forget you need to pay the daily Parking Fee.

DROPPING OFF TRAILERS:
Please be warned that Thames Water usually close the main gates at dusk (around 8pm - although this precise time is NOT guaranteed!) so if you arrive after this time you will NOT be able to drop off your trailer.

When you do drop off your trailer please note that there is a special area designated for trailers alongside the path which runs down the bottom of the sloping field. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR TRAILER ON THE TWO LARGE FLAT RIGGING AREAS EITHER SIDE OF THE CLUBHOUSE.

FOOD:
The Sailing Club Bar is expected to stay open for a period on the Saturday evening immediately after the close of racing. Please note that food is available in the mornings and at lunchtimes only.
