I was really blown over to be awarded the LWA Young Windsurfer of the Year 2009, thank you so much.
2009 has been an exciting year, I have progressed onto my 7.8 sailing in challenging conditions – those of you who were at Mumbles will know what I mean! I have also started sailing the RS:X with an 8.5 sail and will probably compete in the RS:X class for some of the events in 2010. Whilst I am still concentrating on my Techno for racing, especially in the UKWA Cup events I am enjoying the RS:X as well. I was fortunate to be given the opportunity for a week’s windsufing in Egypt at El Tur where I had a wonderful time learning to Vulcan in warm waters. 2009 saw my first international event – competing in the Techno Worlds and I have been reselected for the South East Zone squad for the fourth year.
I am also fortunate to receive support from Legal and General as part of their Youth Excellence Scheme, supporting young sports people.
