 At this time of year at Bough Beech the weather can do just about anything - on this occasion we had brilliant sunshine and the Bough Beech Safety officer was recommending sun cream! During the week the forecast had been very promising indeed but with the sunshine the wind had dropped and actually going out to sail was a triumph of hope over experience.
We laid what was intended to be an an upwind-downwind course in theory, however in practice it was all things to all men - an exercise in shift and lull spotting!
Just as the gun went in Race One the wind backed sharply and the few who realised what was happening got away smartly. Rob and Annette Kent moved swiftly to the front but Adie Rippington managed to get in between them by the time the race ended. Rod again demonstrated his mastery in Race Two with Alan Jackson this time taking second place ahead of Adie.
We went in for lunch, wondering whether there would be any point in sailing at all in the afternoon, but as Race Three started there were a few  tempting puffs, James Moon took second place between Rob and Adie.
Race Four was something of a gamble but we decided to go for it anyway, Rob Kent and Jon Davis got away from the rest of the field and Annette filled third place.
Notable mentions go to the Juniors who persisted despite the frustrations of the infuriating winds, Galahad managing to stay clear of Rebecca & Alysia whio finished on the same points. To the Technos, especially Matt Barton whose superb pumping technique helped him to finish half way up the results, ahead af quite a few raceboards! To Emily Kent on her first outing on a 6.8. It was also great to see Ian Palacio on the water after many years on his IMCO.
