Thank you very much for the award of LWA Young Windsurfer of the Year 2009. This year has been one of many firsts. I have been sailing in the UKWA National 7.8 Techno fleet, sailed in the windiest extreme conditions at Mumbles and survived! Raced a long board with the LWA and beat my Dad, (many times) went to Ras Sudr and sailed in superb conditions in perfect sea and wind in uncrowded water, and cracked the planing carve gybe, sailed in the World Championships and broke a mast on the last day of sailing at Lake Garda. The year has been a great one and I have learnt lots both in racing and short boarding/wave sailing. However racing is still my favourite and although I didn’t quite make the National Squad, I finished 2nd 7.8 boy in the Inland Series and was 2nd 7.8 in the South/South-West Zone Championships. This coming year I hope to continue my success in the UKWA National 7.8 fleet Cup and Inland Series and race longboard 8.5 in the LWA series and possibly enter the Worlds in July in France. Many thanks for all your help and I hope to learn even more from the front of the LWA fleet!
