Windsurfing Racing with the LWA

Briefing at all events is scheduled for 10.30 with first race at 11.00. Usually two races are held before lunch and two afterwards, weather permitting. Entry fees for one-day LWA events in 2011 are £10 for Adults and £5 for Youths/Juniors except for events at Queen Mary which are £15 Adults and £10 Youths/Juniors because of higher sailing fees being charged to the LWA. For the 2 Day UKWA Inland series event at Oxford fees are as follows: Adults £30, Youth/Juniors (on main course) £25, Juniors (on Junior Course) £15.

BEGINNER RACERS VERY WELCOME:
One of our functions as a region, which we are very pleased to undertake, is to introduce newcomers to racing. We run a “grand prix finish” system so even if you manage to complete only one lap you get a position. Beginners to racing are especially welcome, please see our “Starting Racing” page and please feel free to email or phone us for advice. If requested, there will be a special “Beginners’ Briefing” after the main briefing at events.

BUOYANCY REMINDER:
ALL sailors are advised to bring buoyancy to ALL events, for those under 18 it is compulsory at all times and for the rest the Race Officer has the power to require all sailors to wear buoyancy if he decides it is necessary.

LWA 2011 Melting Pot Races and AGM:

The Melting Pot Races and AGM will take place at Queen Mary Sailing Club on Sat 5 March 2011. Briefing 10:30, first race scheduled for 11:00, two or three races depending on the weather, then lunch, followed by the AGM, starting at 13:30. However if racing is cancelled the AGM will start no earlier than 12:30, so if you are only coming for the AGM you need to be at Queen Mary for a 12:30 start, just in case! Entry fee: Adults £15, Youths/Juniors £10.
In view of the cancellation of the last Icebreaker in December, Icebreaker Series prizes will be presented at the AGM.

LWA Icebreaker Series 2011

If you are not already part of a team, turn up anyway and Janet will do her best to find you a place in a team, and anyway it is always possible to sail as an individual. So that Janet's task will be made easier would team captains please register as early as possible on the day of an event.

2011 Icebreaker Team Composition:

Adult teams:
5 sailors.
Max sail size 9.5.
All sailors scores to count towards the team score (except discard as below).
Teams can include either one lady or one youth/junior on max sail size 8.5 whose score will be halved.

If a lady/youth/junior decides to sail as a 9.5 their score will not be halved.

Junior teams:
3 sailors.
Max sail size 7.8.
All sailors scores to count towards the team score (except discard as below).

Individual Series prizes:

There will also be individual prizes for the first 5 places overall in the Icebreaker Series (not in each event|), plus 1st Lady and 1st Youth.

Discards:
When three races are sailed in an event there will be a discard.

There is no event discard, all events will count toward the Team and Individual overall results.
