LWA 2008 Melting Pot:
Queen Mary Sat Feb 9:

Saturday was a beautiful sunny day, the sort of day that in previous years found John Ellis and Xavier wearing shorties! However, none of that nonsense was evident, but there was a good turnout of 19 sailors and the forecaset was for 7 mph. We were due to sail on the eastern side, which was just as well, because there was a certain element of “East” in the wind which produced many more ripples on the water than there were on the western side. However, no sooner had Race One started than the wind began to fall away and by the end of Lap Two it had almost disappeared entirely. Rob Kent and Paul Leone on 9.5’s managed to hold off the Unlimiteds in the shape of Richard Baker and Nick Kidd. Annette Kent was first lady in 7th and Charlie Wilson led home the youngsters in 15th place overall. We waited for some minutes in case the wind decided to make a return visit but alas this was not to be, so we adjourned to the clubhouse for the AGM.
