For our first Icebreaker of the season we had just enough water and just enough wind for an enjoyable day’s racing - and it was still summer suit weather!. There was a good turnout - 11 youths/juniors and 17 adults. Once again the Silicon Sisters and the Farmoor Flyers were at the sharp end of the fleet, although Andy Lacy was conspicuously absent from the Flyers with a dislocated shoulder although he was at Bewl to give moral support to his team. Get well soon, Andy! In all four adult teams co mpeted and two junior teams.
Rob Kent, James Moon and Chris Gibson dominated the first three places for most of the day, with Alan Jackson sneaking a couple of thirds. The final results were very tight, largely because the LWA Committe team were strengthened this time by including James Moon and a flying young Andrew Robinson. However the Silicon Sisters (don’t ask!) pulled it off again, winning by a margin of 11 points over the Farmoor Flyers who squeaked home just two points ahead of the LWA Committee team. The Odds and Sods followed some distance in their wake. In the Juniors the margin was even closer, the “Girls Only” team beat the “Boys Only” by a single point!
LWA Chairman Paul Robinson also presented the LWA Young Windsurfer of the Year Cheque for £150 plus a splendid trophy to Galahad Wisbey - see homepage.
Thanks to John Liddy for some great photos, a few of which appear on this page.
