LWA Icebreaker 2007: Final Results

     Despite a hiccup in the first event at Farmoor when the Silicon Sisters gave them a fright, the Farmoor Flyers came back to win the next two events and ensure that the expensive tin of Dura-Glit which they recently purchased to polish up the trophy will not go to waste. They finished the series with a respectable margin of 38 points over the Silicon Sisters, who were streets ahead of the rest of the teams.
     In the Youths and Juniors, the Queen Mary team won by a total of 470 points against Farmoor Zoomers’ 535 points and not by 1 point as erroneously announced at the prizegiving.
     Individually Rob Kent put up a fine performance to complete the double, LWA Summer Series and Icebreaker.  Annette Kent was first lady in 8th place and Alex Trickle first youth in 12th with Christopher Guest 1st junior in 21st, just 2 points ahead of Alex Mitchell. Icebreaker sweatshirts went to all the winners.
   All in all, 51 different sailors took part in this year’s Icebreaker. If only we could get a turnout like that at our Summer Series Events! So get out your thumbscrews for 2008 and let’s see what we can do.....
