LWA Summer Series 2007

Final Series Results:

     Rob Kent crowned a great season’s sailing by taking the Bewl event by a whisker from Richard Baker, however Rob’s 9 pointseries lead over 2nd place man Chris Gibson was pretty conclusive. Chris however managed to sneak one point over Nick Kidd who was in second place until the final event which he was unable to attend. Rob was also 1st 9.5 and Nick 1st Unlimited. Andy Lacy and Adrian Rippington both finished with 18 points but Adie took 4th overall because of his 2nd place at Burghfield. Richard Baker was 6th overall and 2nd Unlimited. Annette Kent was 8th Overall and First Lady, having now moved up to an 8.5 m sail. Next season we anticipate that she will be giving the boys even more trouble than she already does! Alex Trickle was first Youth, having persisted with his RSX throughout the season but he has now switched back to his IMCO, another source of hassle for the front runners next season! The only Formula sailor to compete in more than one event was Dan Simpson, who had a 3rd and a 1st but did not complete the requisite 4 events to qualify for the series.
     In the Juniors, taking the best 3 of 4 results, Charlie Wilson headed the table just one point ahead of Alex Mitchell in the 6.8 class. In the 5.5s Conor Wells just edged it from Andrew Robinson although they were on hte same points. Other sailors such as Rupert Munro-Faire, Sam Conroy and Stuart Hards posted some good event results during the season but completed only two events.
     The LWA Young Windsurfer of the Year award had been held over from last year, which meant there were two cheques for £100.00 to go to promising young windsurfers who sail in LWA events. Let’s hope that this year’s winners, Alex Trickle and Charlie Wilson, follow in the footsteps of of their illustrious predecessors which include Bryony Shaw, Keith Atkinson and Dan Simpson
